About Me

Amanda Freeman, Ph.D., PMH-C

By training, I am a clinical psychologist and I have a therapy practice that focuses on maternal mental health. My interest in this field began after I had my first child, the challenges I experienced and noticing how much I changed as a result of becoming a new mom.

Since opening my practice, I continue work with pregnant and postpartum mothers and I have become certified in perinatal mental health and Bringing Baby Home.

Both of these, along with all of the experience I have gained both professionally and personally (3 children later!) enrich my work with new moms tremendously and I use my experience to help new moms transition into motherhood more easily.

Throughout my work with new moms, I have noticed that much of the struggle and the challenges they encounter are about the huge shift in how they see themselves and working toward integrating this new sense of self. Additionally, working through the new worries and stressors after adding a baby to the family is very helpful – not to mention the worries and stressors around care taking! I have also noticed that these needs could be met outside of the therapy room, creating space for new mothers to explore and practice their new selves at their own pace, fitting in with their new schedules, and with ongoing support and feedback. This coaching and consulting program is intended to help these new moms create their very best mom-self!
